One of the joys of making photos for a living is that sometimes you find yourself on a farm in rural Pennsylvania watching rocket after rocket launch into a realm beyond visibility, and then witnessing the sheer wonderment spread across the face of its adult maker.

Jay Taylor grew up catching critters on a 700-acre farm in central Pennsylvania. At 22 he regularly takes pet snakes Dravok and Chyanne for walks so they are comfortable being handled by the strangers they encounter.

Ronald Miller, 78, moved to Ono, PA after his nearby home was flooded as a result of Hurricane Irene in August 2011. His household makes up 4 of the 120 residents of the two-road, half-mile long village.

On May 14, 2012, Jay-Z and Mayor Nutter teamed up to announce the upcoming Made In America music festival coming the the pretty city of Philadelphia Labor Day Weekend. Yours truly was at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to capture the madness. Teams of photographers scrambling like eggs, and I was just laughing ’cause I may be short, but that low angle is my saving grace, all day every day.

I’m creating a book! And it’s my most personal of personal projects to date, the book of Ono, PA, my hometown of 122 people. I’m attempting to photograph every one of them and have shot 101 to date. Here are a few of my favorite portraits thus far.
